How to check the status of a service with systemctl in Linux
Check whether a systemd service is running, enabled at boot, and see its recent log lines with systemctl status, is-active, and is-enabled.
Check a systemd service: whether it is running now, whether it starts at boot, and its recent log. Works on systemd distros (RHEL / Oracle Linux 7+, Ubuntu 16.04+).
# Full status plus recent log lines
systemctl status <service>
# Running right now? (active / inactive)
systemctl is-active <service>
# Starts at boot? (enabled / disabled)
systemctl is-enabled <service>
# List every service and its state
systemctl list-units --type=serviceLinuxsystemdsystemctl
