How to apply a Release Update with OPatch in Oracle

Apply a Release Update to a single-instance Oracle Home with OPatch.

This patches Oracle binaries. Shut down every database and listener using this Home first, back up the Oracle Home and inventory, and follow the specific patch readme.

# 1. Stop the databases and listener using this Home

# 2. Apply from the unzipped patch directory
cd /path/to/patch/<patch_id>
$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch apply

# 3. Restart the database, then apply the SQL changes
cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch
./datapatch -verbose
